Enchanting luxury and chic new products were everywhere this year at ICFF and WantedDesign in New York City.

Each year a group of international designers, organized by Modenus, scout through all of the Design Events for the best of the best in design. You can see all of our notes and insights on the Modenus blog. Follow along on our hashtag,  #blogtourNYC,  for daily annotations and finds.

ICFF:
This is the biggest of all New York Design Week events, and we spotted a few trends and products that we loved and some that surprised us.  Here are a few of our favorites.

Kartell + Laufen

Kartell by LAUFEN
I have been a fan of Kartell for many years.  This new collaboration with Laufen, an innovative Swiss ceramics company has offered an expression of natural materials and the pop of color from plastics for your bathroom.
The lasting style of Laufen ceramics offer high-quality composition fixtures with exceptional sustainable qualities in the manufacturing process. Kartell joins the family in offering an integrated functionality and  colorful aesthetics for the bathroom space with color and innovation.

Design alert: Note the hidden drain concealed beautifully in the back reveal.  A clean modern detail to love.

From Italy with love.

I stopped in my tracks while moving through the show when I saw this... Ceiling mounted faucets and showers! Don't you love how sculptural and free flowing they are? NewForm.com

Wilsonart
Wilsonart, manufacturer of laminates,  has introduced a new laminate line that can be used as a counter surface or even vertically on your walls.  Their product is American made in Texas, uses recycled materials, and has great colors and textures. They also offer a custom print program....                          Hello, need I say more?

Debuting at ICFF 2015 was the annual Wilsonart Challenge.  Each year Wilsonart offers a student design competition to a selected University.  This year Appalachian State University rose to the challenge.  It was an outpouring of talent, and we had the pleasure of meeting some of these students with the new chairs they crafted using laminates. Flavor Paper, from Brooklyn,  New York.
Not your grandmother's paper.

The Thornburg shelving system.  All custom made to your specification with beautiful wood and metal finishes. by Amuneal.

IFDA "Take a Seat" 3rd annual charity auction was on display at ICFF this year upstairs. Geraldine, of LittleBigBell photographs a chair submission by NY product, textile and Interior Designer Stacy Garcia, who channels old school vintage with current color trends and texture. Wanted Design: Manhattan

David Turbridge_Ylighting_wanteddesgin_dvdIntDsn
A wonderful presentation by New Zealand eco designer David Trubridge. This artist combines the new world of sustainable materials with old world craftsmanship.   His fixtures are available through YLighting and are offered in a variety of colors.

This felt bell shade was a  beauty in the food court. It is made from 65% recycled water bottles and is non allergenic!  I love it, courtesy of David Turbridge, the Hush led Pendant

Territorio Creativo Mexico. This handsome duo was part of a collective promoting contemporary Mexican design.  I believe we will see more products from Mexico in the near future. The high quality traditional craftsmanship and beautiful materials should have a larger market share here in the United States.

On the right is shown this years new introduction of black and white series by David Turbridge.

Spotted this beautiful sideboard: Piedmont  by SKRAM

Beautiful lighting and a refreshing booth at BecBrittan. This sculptural Lighting designer is Brooklyn based and is making her first debut this year to much fanfare.

The gracious Zelda floats above offering energy and light to all.

Rain Lamp by Richard Clarkson Studio. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you've seen this fixture I posted with its unique combination of water and electricity. With an internal drip feature, the light offers moving patterns and shadows on the floor below.  For a more in-depth look see more on DesignMilk

Design is in the details.   A serving tray that holds your glasses and keeps the items from spilling and sliding.
