I'm so glad you are here.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday. It’s a little quiet today, and we are cleaning and organizing while we put away all the holiday decor, all boxed up and ready for next December. As I think about my plans for 2023, I reflect on what has been rewarding, and what un-knows presented, and plan my goals for 2023.

your entire life can change in a year…

New Year, same you?

As we are coming to a close in 2022, it's been a very busy year, to say the least. dvd Interior Design has been lucky to work with some amazing brands and clients.

On a personal note, the past year undoubtedly brought its share of daunting challenges — from my life-changing war on breast cancer for the last 2 years.

When I was first given the bad news, it’s hard to describe how I felt, but I will say, that I removed myself from the world a little.

This 2 year period finally culminated in (2) surgeries, one in June 2022 and the other this past December 2022, each time taking me out of commission for a while.

In an effort to fight the battle, I also removed myself from all social media to focus and spend more time on my health. Since I was working full-time and thankful for the business, I used the precious time gained from this change to meditate daily for managing the stress, I gave up alcohol, watched happy movies at night, and took on a vegan diet toward health.

2022 was also the year my family life as a MOM shifted in September with my youngest child, Cory, graduating high school and my full-time mommy job of 24+ years came to an end as all three boys left home for their next chapters in life. ( the house is clean though)

Yet, 2022 also yielded remarkable progress for my health and my priorities, and a few new unexpected friends, my female tribe, and my coveted circle of wisdom offering support through this challenging health crisis. I am forever indebted to them. More about that in this post: “The Big C and Me”

Creativity and inspiration always win especially during these challenging times. I hope you enjoy this look at favorites from 2022.

Below you’ll find some of our most-read design tips and stories from 2022.

Top 10 Reader's Favorite Blog Posts of 2022. I hope you've enjoyed this week so far. We are spending time looking at the last year of stories. Remember, the power of design is to help us feel healthy, happy, and joyful.

  • COLOR OF THE YEAR: There was a lot of interest in Benjamin Moores's Color of the Year for 2022 OCTOBER MIST and How To Use It

We finally got out of the office AGAIN and visited a few trade shows.

Here’s what happened

  • I’m Always looking for renewed or new resources that will serve me and my clients. I was honored to host the High Point Market Insiders Tour for market newbies in High Point North Carolina.

  • I was asked to host this (free) tour for interior designers attending for the first time, who are interested in resources that will increase their furniture and decor offerings and incomes. We toured 15 resources to assist in creating better profits for 2023. ( yes, this is a free tour offered by High Point Market Authority)

From in-stock furniture to bathroom vanities and more, we visited the best design vendors for 2023.

  • Big Thanks to High Point Market. My resources are always expanding and my design preferences are edited after attending High Point Market.

  • Visiting HPMKT is exactly how I love to shop, and so it was an important theme that I share some wonderful companies and design influences with you. Enjoy!

Thoughts on 2023 for Design?

  • Interior Design Follows Fashion. As consumers shed their loungewear, we will continue to see a shift in fashion towards a more glamorous look, we will also see our homes change as a reflection of fashion with a focus on the environment.

  • The Year of Cozy- More glamour with softness and an eclectic collection of pieces to furnish our homes is the winning mix in my book.

Wishing you Happy and Peaceful Days ahead. I have a tremendous amount of hope that 2023 is everyone’s best year ever. I’m cheering for you.

xoxo,

Deborah
